(1847-1911)

Albert B. Williams was the author of the third of the early histories of Knox County. He was born in 1847 in Holmes County and came to Mount Vernon as a minister of the Disciples of Christ Church. He resigned from the ministry in 1900 because of poor health. Reverend Williams died in 1911.

While his two-volume history of Knox County draws heavily upon the previous works of A. Banning Norton (1862) and N. N. Hill (1881), Williams provides much useful information about the growing businesses and industries in the county during the period covering the last years of the nineteenth, and the early years of the twentieth centuries.
His Volume II also gives much original biographical information about noteworthy citizens of Knox County during this period.
