Knox County Authors

Since Mount Vernon and Knox County were first settled in the early 1800's, there have been more than 100 historians, journalists, novelists, playwrights, poets and other writers who have had some connection with our area. Many of these writers were true natives who spent much of their lives in residence, while others resided here for shorter periods of their lives. Their writing spans a wide range of periods, subjects and styles.

For more than 30 years, the work of Knox County authors and publishers has been collected by Dr. Keith Clinker, antiquarian book dealer and now retired professor from the Mount Vernon Nazarene University. His ongoing research has produced these biographical sketches and bibliographies for these and many other writers. Persons having additonal information about Knox County authors are encouraged to contact us at Knox County Historical Society.
